Laser Resurfacing

Layers of skin are removed with a laser beam, and as the healing process progresses, a new, healthier-looking skin emerges. The effects last for several years, but the down time for this procedure is between 1 and 2 weeks with best results after several weeks. Possible side effects are infrequent, and include infection, scarring, cold sores, and skin color changes.
Methods of Laser Resurfacing include “ablative and non-ablative.” Contact Dr.’s Hecker to determine which method would work best for you.

Examples of non-ablative:

How Fraxel treatment works
The technology behind Fraxel treatrment is as revolutionary as the results it can deliver. Unlike other laser treatments, Fraxel treatment is able to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of skin, using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin’s surface to eliminate old, damaged skin cells. Fraxel treatment stimulates the body’s own natural healing process, which replaces damaged skin with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.

Your personalized Fraxel treatment plan
Your skin is unique-your genetic make-up, lifestyle and personal history all contribute to how your skin looks and feels. With Fraxel treatment, your physician can develop a treatment plan tailored to your skin’s individual needs.

By design, Fraxel Treatments can target between approximately 5 to 50 percent of the skin’s surface, leaving the remaining 50 to 90 percent available to quickly heal the treated areas. Since Fraxel treatment is so precise, it’s safe and effective on delicate skin areas like the neck, chest and hands, in addition to the face. You can expect two levels of results, immediate and progressive. Immediately after initial healing is complete, the surface of your skin will feel softer, look brighter, and tone will start to become even. Progressive results occur over the next three to six months as the deeper layers of skin continue to heal.

What side-effects can I expect after treatment and how long will they last?
You will have some degree of redness and swelling. The intensity and duration depends on how aggressive the treatment was and your particular healing characteristics. Other temporary side-effects may include minor itching, dry skin, peeling or flaking, and bronzed skin appearance. You will be given specific instructions about what to expect for your particular treatment and how to minimize the side-effects.

What precautions should I take after treatment?
Wear sunscreen or SPF 30 or higher and avoid direct sun exposure while you’re healing for atleast 3 months after your last treatment. Further protect yourself by wearing wide brimmed hats if you expect to be out in sun.

How long to the effects of Fraxel treatment last?
It depends on your particular condition and how you care for your skin. Once your skin is restored, continue to protect it as described above. For conditions, such as melasma, it is very important to avoid direct sun exposure. Your physician will give you specific advice based on your individual needs.

SKIN SCIENCE THAT DELIVERS DRAMATIC RESULTS
Simply put, Fraxel treatment promotes your skin’s own healing process, resulting in natural rejuvenation that removes years from your appearance.

Depending on your skin, you can decide how you want to attain remarkable results Fraxel treatment delivers. Aggressive treatments require fewer sessions and result in more post treatment side-effects – meaning a few days of social downtime. Less aggressive treatments accomplish the same results, with a few more treatment sessions and less pronounced side-effects. For more types of skin and skin conditions, gentle and/or fewer treatments are best. DOT therapy is designed to improve the skin’s texture and tone and to fight fine lines, deep wrinkles, and acne scars.

The Madonna eyelift

What is Madonna Lift?
The Madonna lift is the newest way to treat the wrinkles and saggy, lax skin around the eyes. Your physician will use the most advanced fractional CO2 laser known as the SmartXide DOT to treat these problem areas. The fractional laser treats deep into the skin around your eyes to plump up wrinkles, soften the skin, lift sagging brows and improve the appearance…all without any surgical incisions.

How does it work?
DOT Therapy employs tha latest fractional technology, which treats only a fraction of the skin at a time. The laser uses specially modulated beams of light about the width of a human hair, to penetrate into the skin. These beams of light destroy and contract the old collagen within the wrinkles and incite the body’s natural wound healing process to create new, youthful collagen in the skin. This causes the wrinkles around the eyes to plump up, tighten and soften.

Is the Madonna Lift good for all skin colors?
The laser used for the Madonna lift has been cleared by the FDA for use on all skin colors.
