Restylane Silk in Pompano Beach
Are you looking for a safe and long-lasting solution for the skin surrounding your lips? FDA-approved Restylane Silk will deliver the silky and natural-looking smile you desire. Over time, the skin surrounding our lips begin to acquire wrinkles and fine lines. It’s a natural result of aging, but not one you have to live with. The Restylane Silk product smooths over those unwanted lines and wrinkles leaving a silky, subtle enhancement to your skin. Leading the way in Broward County, Hecker Dermatology Group is one of the first offices in the South Florida area to be approved in Restylane Silk procedures.
What is Restylane Silk?
Restylane Silk is the newest filler on the block. The hyaluronic-acid based injectable is approved for plumping lips and filling wrinkles around the mouth (also known as smokers’ lines or perioral rhytids). The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved sister-filler Restylane in 2005 for treating moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and smile lines. Restylane Silk is an injectable gel formulation of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar found in our skin. This injectable provides natural-looking results to combat the signs of aging commonly found around the mouth.
Unlike Restylane, Restylane Silk contains the anesthetic lidocaine to help take the sting out of the shot and improve comfort during the procedure. Both Restylane products are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body. Our natural supply of hyaluronic acid tends to diminish as we age.
In the study that led to the FDA’s approval of Restylane Silk, fully 98 percent of participants reported an improvement in lip fullness two weeks after treatments, with 76 percent still showing such fullness six months after their injection. According to manufacturer Galderma, Restylane Silk results last for at least six months. Treatment time ranges from 30 minutes to one hour.
Restylane Silk is non-animal based. Allergy pretesting is therefore not necessary. Still, the filler is not for everyone. It should not be used in people with a history of hypersensitivity to local anesthetics of the amide type (such as lidocaine) or gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus, and/or those who have bleeding disorders.
At Hecker Dermatology, all injectables are performed by physicians. We prioritize the safety and confidence of our clients and work tirelessly to ensure that your customer experience exceeds your expectations.
Both of our doctors, Drs. David and Melanie Hecker, have years of experience with injectables.

Restylane Silk risks may include lip swelling, bruising and pain. The best way to minimize these risks is to avoid fish oil, alcohol, St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) before Restylane Silk injection, as these may increase the chances of bleeding. Your physician’s aesthetic assistants will tell you what else to avoid doing in the days leading up to your injection. There is no downtime after Restylane Silk treatment.
Clinical studies have proven that patients treated with Restylane Silk experience increased and maintained lip fullness over the course of six months following the procedure. As we age, our skin begins to lose elasticity, including the skin around your lips. Fine lines begin to take prominence and lips lack the plump luster they once had before. Or maybe you were born with lips that on the more thin side and want to achieve a fuller shape with natural-looking results. There’s only one solution: Restylane Silk.
How Does Restylane Silk Work?
Restylane Silk is an injection and must be administered by a trained physician. The physician will then inject Restylane into and around the lips strategically using an ultrafine needle. Multiple lip treatments may be scheduled, but each treatment should be limited to 1.5mL per lip and only 1.0mL for fine lines. Administering more lip filler than this can cause negative reactions at the injection site. Negative reactions can include swelling and bruising, countering the goal of achieving a natural appearance.
What Results Can I Expect?
You can expect nothing but amazing results! Restylane Silk has one of the highest satisfaction rates among patients who use it as their lip plumper of choice. In clinical trials, 98% of patients reported visibly plumper lips two weeks post treatment. Results appear much more natural than other lip plumping options due to the gel’s tiny, smooth particles and because of the ultrafine needle used when administering. Expect natural, defined results with beautiful volume that last roughly six months.
Who Can Benefit From Restylane Silk?
Anyone really! Restylane Silk is designed for those 21 years or older who love their lips, but want to enhance them without undergoing an invasive procedure. You should be in good health with no history of bad allergic reactions to gram-positive bacteria or to drugs and medication. It should not be used by those with bleeding disorders, by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or by those with hypersensitivity to local anesthetics.
Are There Any Side Effects?
There may be some mild side-effects such as swelling, pain, redness or bruising, but many patients report them as mild and lasting under two weeks if they do occur. Due to the lips’ natural volume in younger people, those under the age of 35 are more likely to experience swelling while those over 35 are more likely to experience bruising. If negative side effects do occur, after-treatment instructions will be provided to minimize these effects.
